UPCOMING 2017 PAINTING WORKSHOPS WITH CAMERON SCHMITZ

Abstract Oil Painting: Working in a Series (Weekly Class)

April 6, 13, 27 + May 4 (4 Classes)

Meets: Thursdays, 12:30 - 3:30 pm

In this course we will explore the process of painting in a series in order to more quickly develop visual ideas, while working intuitively and abstractly. Over the course of four weeks we will delve into working within your own series, going deep into color relationships, composition and theories of painting. When we narrow our focus to work within a focused series, we benefit from rhythm and momentum achieved within our painting. As a result, we are able to more effectively develop visual concepts and ideas while achieving a multitude of images that are harmonious and cohesive. Students will build a small body of work and will be supported in exploring and developing new imagery and finding their own unique voice.

One-one-one instruction will be provided to each student, supplemented by painting demonstrations.

Oil paints, oil sticks, painting medium, palettes, access to brushes, palette knives, etc. are provided by River Gallery School. Students are responsible for supplying their own paper, canvas and painting surfaces.
