CAMERON SCHMITZ STUDIO WORKSHOPS!

Cameron Schmitz Fine Art

When I teach painting, I'm reminded how essential it is for students to get my one-on-one attention and to have the opportunity to teach in small group settings where an intimate, supportive, and nurturing environment for learning is so effective for each person's own journey of painting and art-making.

I currently teach small-group oil painting workshops at my Professional Art Studio located in Greenfield, MA! Studio Workshops are limited to 3-4 students per workshop, providing ample one-on-one time to support to each participant as well as access to my professional studio of pigments, brushes and tools.

FOR ABSTRACT AND REPRESENTATIONAL PAINTERS

Using a combination of brushes, palette knives, rags, oil sticks, and a host of materials, in this course we will experiment with both traditional and less conventional oil painting techniques, to achieve a variety of effects. In order to achieve these results, we will also work on a variety of painting supports. This is an excellent course for both representational and abstract painters who are looking to experiment with different techniques in a supportive and non-judgemental environment, to attain exciting results in their painting. This class will be tailored for both beginner and experienced painters.

We will investigate how to create luminous skin tones through the use of both of indirect and direct painting methods, using limited warm and cool color palettes. By working small, students will be able to build a small body of work and will be supported in exploring new imagery while developing their own unique voice within the mode of abstraction.

This oil painting workshop will help painters of all levels learn to paint with increased confidence by better understanding the workings of color, value relationships, and building forms in space. Working from a choice of still-life set-ups or photographs of landscapes students will learn to compose paintings with increased immediacy and boldness through the use of drawing, value studies and a limited palette.
